MICHAEL L. DONAHUE

Mike Donahue brings more than 45 years of public-safety experience spanning fire investigation, law enforcement, hazardous materials emergency response, and occupational safety and health training. Over the course of his career, he has served on the IAAI Occupational Safety and Health Committee and the NFPA 921 Safety Task Force, contributing to national standards and best practices that shape the fire investigation profession.

Mike’s background includes investigative and leadership roles within the federal government's Inspector General community, as well as prior service as a federal agent and law enforcement training specialist with the U.S. Department of Justice and as a municipal police officer. He has also held positions in multiple federal agencies and private-sector organizations as an investigator and subject matter expert on fire investigator safety, health issues, and hazardous materials response.

He holds a B.S. in Fire and Arson Investigation from the University of Maryland and spent 30 years as an Adjunct Professor in Montgomery College’s Fire Science and Emergency Services Program, where he taught both basic and advanced fire and arson investigation courses.

A prolific author, Mike has written more than 50 articles on fire investigation, hazardous materials, and fire scene safety and health. He is also the author of Safety and Health Guidelines for Fire and Explosion Investigators, published by the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA), and most recently, Occupational Health and Safety Guidance for Fire and Explosion Investigators|A 12-Step Program for Transforming the Health and Safety of Fire and Explosion Investigators which is available on Amazon Books and Barnes and Noble.
